    Global Service Initiative (GSI)

Throughout the year, the DU North Carolina State Chapter works to raise money for the Fraternity's own charity program, the Global Service Initiative. Funds raised go to help developing nations and regions of the world build schools and provide proper infrastructure, among other necessities, to their inhabitants.

However, the GSI isn't just another charity sending money to some far-off place. As a brother of Delta Upsilon, you'll have the opportunity to actually go to that "far-off place" and use the money that we, as an International Fraternity, have raised to help out those in need.

Past trips include building schools in Negril, Jamaica and cleaning up after the natural disasters in New Orleans, Louisiana.

For more information on the GSI, check out Delta Upsilon International's info page.

    Duck Hunt

DU Duck HuntDelta Upsilon's main philanthropic event is known as "Duck Hunt," named for the classic Nintendo video game. Brothers solicit volunteers from around NCSU's campus (professors, deans, Campus Police, and members of Student Government, to name a few) to dress up as the Duck and the Dog from the popular game.

Students and passerby are then allowed to peg the Duck or Dog with a water balloon, $1 a piece, to benefit the aforementioned Delta Upsilon Global Service Initiative.

Each year, the brothers of the North Carolina State Chapter are able to contribute a sizable donation to the GSI from this event alone. It makes sense, though - who wouldn't want to hit the dean of their college in the face with a water balloon?
